The rock art at Dunchraigaig Cairn represents one of Scotland's most remarkable prehistoric discoveries, featuring the first-ever prehistoric animal carvings found in Scotland. Thought to be between 4,000 and 5,000-years-old, the carvings include depictions of two male red deer, which are considered to have been the largest deer species in Scotland during this time. The images were discovered by chance on the underside of a capstone within this ancient burial cairn in Kilmartin Glen, Argyll. <\/p>
